Website Relaunch + Musings…

Finally, it’s here!! The Dickeyville website has a fresh new look.

Designer Musings…

During the process of rebuilding the new website, I reviewed years of event images, read back over energetic village news updates, reminisced over July 4th shenanigans and recalled legendary village stories, was warmed by quotes about what villagers loved most, and remembered the many wonderful characters we’ve lost along the way. It was a moving reminder about how comforting day-to-day interactions with neighbors can be, how deeply nourishing the daily walks amongst old trees are, how years of laughter and robust debate shared across friends’ dinnertables build new versions of family, how an unexpected hug while dog walking or a last-minute garden cocktail invite can lift the spirits, or that dancing outside in summer rain during July 4th dinner dance, are simple ingredients that build cherished bonds that many people dream about.

If you haven’t experienced that side of Dickeyville yet, I encourage you to reach out to long-time neighbors, come along to village events, invite someone over for garden snacks, and start to create your own unique Dickeyville memories. Nurturing a nearby network of supportive neighbor friends is becoming more precious in an increasingly disconnected world.

For long-time neighbors and newcomers, I hope this refreshed website and its celebration of Dickeyville offers a renewed sense of community spirit and gratitude for the wonders we have on our doorstep.

Ok, back to the matter at hand; introducing the new website.

After several months of creative toil, DCA is proud to showcase the many wonderful attributes about living in Dickeyville. Please take a stroll through…..

Of special note, the Resident Retreat page is a private password-protected hub for current residents only. Its holds internal documents not for public distribution. Residents gain access using the password distributed by DCA email and also inside the Directory cover. The password will change each two years, usually with transition of new presidents.

Much of the website news and photos come from the years of vibrant community activity before Covid hit us all in early 2020 which subsequently reduced the thriving social energy of village life for quite a while. Fortunately, we’ve regrouped and village-wide events have increasingly regained momentum.

Ready to Help Out?

I encourage you to submit content to help keep the news blog fresh. Particularly helpful items include: recap of village events held, blog post on topic related to villagers (e.g. gardening suggestions, historic home stories, wildlife sightings, celebrating residents’ achievements etc). Favorite village photos are also welcomed.

Read how to add your own spin on celebrating the unique and cherished lives we get to lead in Dickeyville About The Website here. More details on submissions will be available soon.

  • The website news section, Village News, supplements the Town Crier newsletter. When appropriate, Town Crier news will be translated for the website, but the online option offers differing opportunity for visuals and longer text.

What’s Next?

  • Keep an eye out for upcoming re-posts of some of my favorite resident contributions. Coming soon, a recap of memories shared by previous Dickeyville residents who grew up in the village during the 1940s. 50s, and 60s. Poignant reading.

  • Photo Galleries are still being updated, so keep checking for more.

  • Feel welcome to get in touch with me; about website corrections, submitting a news post, adding photos etc. via the Website Contact Form, or my email found in the Directory.

Cheerio
